What a great day and brilliant fundraising effort!
The amazing runners and walkers of the Kelly's Watford 10k have raised £23,000 towards Watford Mencap! Thank you for all your support and donations, as this will make a massive difference to them going forward!
The race takes place along the beautiful Bluebell Route in Cassiobury Park. It attracts over a thousand entrants for the 10k race!
The long established race, paid for and organised by us this year to raise money for Watford Mencap will, once again, be looking to attract runners of all abilities, from novices to experienced runners.
In addition to the chip-timed main 10k and juniors' 3k races, the popular 1k fun run also returns for the youngest runners!
At HQ there will be stalls and activities to cater for all the needs of the runners and spectators who come to enjoy the atmopshere and cheer the runners in! It will be a fun day out for all the family on the May Bank Holiday.
THERE IS NO ENTRY FEE FOR THIS EVENT BUT WE WELCOME VOLUNTARY DONATIONS TO WATFORD MENCAP.
WE SUGGEST AN AMOUNT IN LINE WITH SIMILAR EVENTS.

**UPDATE** HQ is now by the Bandstand in Cassiobury Park, Watford. WD18 7HY is the post code to follow for the Cha Cha Cha cafe which is very close to HQ at the bandstand.
Enter the park at Shepherds Road entrance (by the Cha Cha Cha cafe).
There is one official car park for Cassiobury Park at the end of Gade Avenue near the bottom of Cassiobury Park Avenue (WD18 7LG is the nearest postcode).
The car park is signposted from the centre of town and Rickmansworth Road with brown tourist information signs. Parking is free but limited, with 78 spaces plus six more reserved for blue badge holders. In the summer an extension is opened to enlarge the carpark, however on good weather weekends this will often be full.
On-street parking to the north and south of the park is free but restrictions apply.
Coaches and other vehicles above 2.1m are prevented from entering the car park by a barrier across the entrance (installed November 2014). There is often space to temporarily stop a coach to unload passengers close to the car park entrance on Gade Avenue or at the bottom of Cassiobury Park Avenue.
If parking this end, you will need to walk to the HQ at the band stand (near the Cha Cha Cha cafe).
Cassiobury Park is a 2 minute walk from the Watford Metropolitan line station on the London Underground network. Exit the station onto Cassiobury Park Avenue and turn right, after about 150 metres turn left onto Shepherds Road – the park is straight ahead of you.
Watford Junction (1.3 miles) and Watford High Street (2.1 miles) are the two closest overground stations.
The 352 and W30 services stop outside Watford Metropolitan line station which is a two minute walk from the park.
Training plan one
We hope you are looking forward to the Kelly's Watford 10k this Bank Holiday Monday. We have a little something extra for you to try at the event this weekend. We are trialling an app which is integrated with the timing software from our chip timing team at EMIT-UK.
This app will allow you to see the important race information in one place with links to the event website, notifications, social media and results page. The main feature of the app is the ability for you to be tracked by your friends and/or family around the course via your mobile phone signal. It will show where you are on the course map and give a predicted finish time based on your pace to help those who need to know when you might be at the finish line.
To download the FREE app head to your relevant app store (ios or android) and search for 'Athlinks Race Day'. Once you have installed the app you will then need to upload the event details by searching for 'Kelly's Watford 10K'.
To utilise the tracking feature you must have enabled location services on your device and ensure that the app has the appropriate permissions. Those wishing to track you will also need to have downloaded the app and event details. 24 hours before the race the roster will populate the entry list and you will be able to find yourself in the tracking feature. Don't worry if you can't see yourself before then you can use the registration link to confirm you are registered.
Some FAQ's about the tracking feature are:
Question: How do I track myself/someone else with GPS?
Answer: In order for GPS to track an athlete, the athlete must have their phone on them while running and must hit the "Start Tracking" button as they approach or cross the start line; otherwise, GPS will not track them.
Question: How many people can I track?
Answer: As a spectator, you can track up to 10 athletes. As a participant, you can only track yourself.
Question: Why does my app close down when I try to start tracking?
Answer: If your phone's location services are disabled on your phone, the app will automatically close down. This is an issue that is currently being addressed. To avoid this, simply make sure you enable location services on your phone before trying to launch tracking.
Question: When should I start the tracking feature?
Answer: We recommend starting the tracking feature a couple minutes before the race start. Time is not as important for the tracking as your location. Pace and position information will begin populating once you are 100 meters past the start line.
