chYps

chYps Children's Hospice at Home (the children and young people's service of EllenorLions Hospices) has pioneered a new concept in children's hospice care. Instead of taking the child to a hospice, chYps take the hospice to the child, by delivering end of life, cancer and respite care in the family home.

This enables the young patient- babies, children and young adults- to spend precious time with their parents and siblings, in a place of comfort. The charities specialist team cares for the whole family by providing emotional support for the patient, siblings and parents.

This care extends to families living in West Kent and the London Borough of Bexley.

Herts. Air Ambulance

The Herts Air Ambulance is a vital life-saving Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS). It costs in the region of £130,000 per month to cover all charitable costs and aircraft operations including the provision of Doctors. The service enables clinicians and life-saving support equipment to be rushed to the scene of an incident and the patient can be flown to an appropriate hospital. The Herts Air Ambulance receives no direct Government or National Lottery funding and is reliant upon donations from the public and local businesses to raise the funds needed to keep the Air Ambulance flying.

The Parents Consortium

The Parents Consortium is a small but highly regarded support agency providing a range of services and activities to families of disabled children and young people. It was set up by a group of parents to support each other.
Kelly's Charity Events held their first event for the Parents Consortium in 2011. It has helped to raise their profile in the commumity, attract corporate sponsorship and raised nearly £12,000 which enabled them to continue their family support and advice service which would otherwise have been cut through lack of funding.
